Helping people heal and find inner peace is a true passion and calling for me. It is an honor and a privilege for me to be able to walk alongside others as they process their thoughts and feelings on the road to healing and discovering their true identity. I really enjoy working with college students who are trying to adapt to a new environment, build relationships, recover from heartaches and figuring out their next steps.
I am certainly not limited to working only with college students. I am open to working with those from all walks of life. I specialize in helping folks recover who have been exposed to religious/spiritual abuse. This form of abuse could look like having the bible used as a weapon to humiliate or control you. Another example could be feeling intimidated or pressured by religious leaders to give money, have sex or do anything against your will. I also have a heart for those who are recovering from narcissistic abuse and struggling with codependency. If you believe you have been in an abusive relationship or are currently in an abusive relationship, I would be honored to help you find the healing and freedom you long for. Lastly, if you believe that you have been the abuser in your relationships, I can help you find the freedom to love from a genuine place and form new healthy ways of relating to others.
It is my desire to join with you as a collaborative team, cooperatively setting and working towards your counseling goals. While I may provide some advice or direction, it is my intention that as we explore your feelings, choices, and goals, we will discover the most appropriate and healthy decisions for your life.
I believe that your past impacts your present and that by working through unresolved issues, it may relieve some anxiety and depression symptoms in the present. I also recognize that you live within various systems (family, work, culture) that impact your life in different ways which will be considered in the counseling process.
I believe that what you think and believe affects how you feel and the decisions you make. By examining your thought life, you will be able to better reach your counseling goals. Additionally, I emphasize how the quality of your relationships greatly impact your mental health. By evaluating your interpersonal relationships and working on improving those relationships, you will be able to foster the support needed to make positive changes in your life.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), and completed my graduate training in Professional Counseling from Cornerstone University. As part of my degree program in addition to counseling, I took a variety of biblical theology classes. I am well equipped to help those coming from a faith-based perspective, however, I do not discriminate based on religious beliefs or for any reason. I value diversity and prefer to work with people from a wide range of different backgrounds/beliefs.
