Navigating the world can be an overpowering experience, including those with many intersecting identities that make up oneself, their lived experience, and how they process their thoughts and feelings. As a clinician with intersecting identities, it is an honor and privilege to help navigate those identities and provide guidance even in the face of trauma, stigma, and shame. My priority is to foster a space of safety and free of judgment, so that you are able to be seen and heard at a pace that is best for you and will lead to healing and living a life as your best self.
My therapy style is best described as eclectic, meaning different therapeutic modalities may be used depending on your needs. The therapeutic modalities I utilize are flexible, which can include DBT, ACT, CBT, LGBTQ+ affirming, and motivational interviewing. My practice is one of recognizing the significance of intersectionality and is also alignment with the social work profession, which is to empower those who are vulnerable and oppressed. Understanding the magnitude of intersectional identities and how discrimination can impede the healing process is key for me to aid my clients in fighting those barriers blocking their path.
My core values include authenticity, vulnerability, and inclusivity. I know that for those who have struggled with vulnerability, it can be an overwhelming experience to feel the multitude of emotions, like excitement, shame, fear, or doubt. It can also be challenging when you feel that a stranger may not completely grasp the journey that you have taken. The clients I work with describe me as empathetic, compassionate, kind, culturally sensitive, open minded, and funny. I look forward to meeting with you and helping you navigate this complex path we call life.
I earned a Bachelor of Science in Public Health from Wayne State University and currently earning a Master of Science in Social Work with from Walden University.
