Therapist & Administrative Assistant (she/her)
Hello! Thank you for prioritizing yourself. Because reaching out can feel so scary and difficult, this speaks to your strength. To match the respect this deserves, I prioritize developing a safe and healing relationship at your own pace, as this relationship provides the support and encouragement you may need to feel confident moving towards your goals and values. To aid in this endeavor, I strive to create an affirming environment for folks that is inherently anti-oppressive and grounded in a Health At Every Size (HAES) framework.
I graduated from Wayne State University with my Master of Arts in Counseling. I hold the Clinical Rehabilitation Counselor certification, which adds to the depth of knowledge I have in how to holistically apply counseling skills to assist disabled individuals across a wide range of conditions that is not grounded in ableist thinking or practices.
I have 8 years’ experience working with the disability community in various capacities. Coping with and adjusting to a disability can take a toll on everyone, which is why I enjoy helping caregivers and partners supporting a loved one with chronic pain/illness feel seen and supported. I also understand how experiencing trauma can lead to pain that is difficult to manage, particularly with autoimmune flare-ups, which may lead to work focusing on using our bodies and their natural processes to provide some relief of your pain.
I have 1 year experience with working with infants and young children alongside their caregivers by promoting attachment. I love supporting parents and caregivers with the stresses and challenges that come with raising the next generation of happy, healthy, and successful adults. I am here to help give yourself grace, grow your support system, and learn about attachment so you can navigate what stage comes next with your child.
I also have experience supporting survivors of sexual assault, folks with anxiety and depression, students experiencing school stress, survivors navigating their grief, and folks on their gender and sexuality exploration journey. I recognize that a person’s transition journey is so individualized. To further assist with your gender journey, I have received training in letter writing to help client access gender affirming medical care (recognizing that medical transition is just one of many optional avenues to live your truth).
I have received specific training to practice Acceptance & Commitment Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy. I find these two modalities complement each other very well for their respective purposes to provide a comprehensive approach to services. I also pull in solution-focused, motivational interviewing, DBT, somatic therapy, and narrative-based interventions to tailor services specifically to your needs. I offer an alternative way to think about pain and the human experiences we often label as negative, as all our emotions can hold value and insight into our needs.
Please reach out with any questions. I am happy to work with you to keep therapy affordable. I look forward to working together with you to achieve your goals in the way that best serves you.
