My name is Abby, and I am a non-binary (they/them) Limited Licensed Professional Counselor.
I earned my Bachelor of Psychological Science in December 2020 and earned my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in July 2023. I earned both of my degrees from Ball State University, located in Muncie, Indiana—my hometown!
After obtaining my Bachelor of Science, I worked with autistic children in an Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) setting. In my work with autistic teens and adults, I tend to work outside of the lens of ABA and prefer a self-advocacy, person-centered, approach. I am also interested in, and have experience with, working with marginalized communities, such as those in the LGBTQIA+ community, the non-monogamous community, the disabled community, and those who are in poverty and/or considered to be “low class”, individuals with acute or chronic traumatic histories, and folx who experience depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder.
My approach to counseling involves empowering you, aiding in the development of self-awareness, and identifying your strengths–all while also acknowledging macro- and micro-scale systemic barriers that may inhibit growth and development. My therapeutic approach is eclectic in nature, where I use strategies from several therapy modalities I am informed in–Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Feminist Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Existential Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, and in my couples’ work, I utilize the Gottman Method.
My number one priority is to provide each person I work with the with individual care and support services specific to their identities, experiences, and needs.
