I specialize in working with adolescents and adults of all ages. I am a gender-affirming mental health provider. I have training and experiences with adoption, past trauma, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, relationship issues and low self-esteem. I embrace a person-centered approach and utilize a variety of evidence-based therapeutic techniques such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) informed practices. I have over 18 years of experience practicing as a K-12 school counselor working with diverse populations and a wide-range of issues. This includes collaborating with parents/caregivers, staff and community stakeholders. I also counseled young adults in crisis during my doctoral internship at the Oakland University Counseling Center.
Education & Training
I am currently practicing as a Limited Licensed Counselor. In addition to completing advanced clinical and doctoral level counseling studies at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan, I earned a Bachelor of Arts from Oakland University and a Master of Education in School Counseling from Grand Valley State University. I completed CBT training through the TRAILS program at the University of Michigan Medicine’s Eisenberg Depression Center and received two certifications in DBT informed practices by the DBT Institute of Michigan. I served as a Board Member of the Washtenaw Counselors Association for over seven years.
My children (now all young adults) inspired my counseling career. I adopted three older siblings from the foster care system after they had been rescued from a refugee camp. The trauma they experienced at such a young age motivated me to understand how to offer the best support possible not only to them, but also to others in an empathetic and caring environment. It would be my honor to walk beside you in your journey. I am here to offer you a safe and supportive space to tell your story. It’s important you feel heard and validated. I look forward to working with you to help you set goals and move forward according to your needs.
