Compassionate, Trauma-Informed Care for Adults
Taking the first step to seek therapy can feel overwhelming, but you’ve found a safe and supportive space here. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Michigan, dedicated to helping adults navigate life’s challenges—whether you’re feeling anxious, managing life transitions, coping with difficult relationships, or healing from past trauma.
I bring over 18 years of experience as a school counselor and over three years in private practice, now focusing exclusively on supporting adults. My approach is client-centered, meaning that I prioritize your unique needs, values, and goals. I believe that healing happens when you feel heard, understood, and empowered to take meaningful steps toward growth.
Who I Work With
I specialize in working with adults navigating anxiety, stress, life transitions, past trauma, PTSD, relationship challenges, grief, loss, self-esteem, and identity concerns. I am an LGBTQ+ friendly therapist, committed to creating an inclusive and affirming space where you can feel safe, respected, and supported.
Education and Credentials & Therapeutic Approach
I hold a master’s degree in addition to some doctoral-level studies in the field of counseling. I use a client-centered and trauma-informed framework, drawing from evidence-based practices to meet your unique needs. My primary approaches include Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help reduce the emotional impact of distressing memories and experiences, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT) to challenge unhelpful thought patterns and build healthier coping strategies, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)-Informed Practices to improve emotional regulation and interpersonal relationships, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help you clarify your values and take meaningful steps toward your goals. Therapy isn’t a one-size-fits-all process. My
client-centered approach means that I tailor our work to meet your unique experiences and priorities. Together, we’ll create a path toward healing that feels right for you.
What Does It Mean to Be Trauma-Informed?
Trauma isn’t always about one life-changing event—it can come from ongoing stress, difficult relationships, or feeling unsafe in the world. Trauma can affect how we see ourselves and others, leading to beliefs like “I’m not good enough,” “I can’t trust anyone,” or “I’m not safe.” As a
trauma-informed therapist, I help clients recognize the impact of their past experiences, process difficult emotions, and shift negative beliefs. My goal is to offer you a safe space to explore your experiences, reduce emotional distress, and move toward a life that feels more balanced and fulfilling.
A Little About Me
My journey into counseling is deeply personal. As a mother, I adopted three siblings who experienced significant trauma at a young age. Supporting their healing inspired me to better understand the lasting impact of trauma and dedicate my career to helping others in their recovery. I’ve also served in leadership roles in various community organizations, including being appointed by the Governor to the Michigan Domestic and Sexual Violence Prevention and Treatment Board, where I contributed to improving policies that support survivors. My passion for service was instilled in me at a young age, and it remains a core part of my personal and professional life.
I understand that reaching out for support can feel daunting, but you’ve already taken the first step. I’d be honored to walk alongside you on your journey toward healing and personal growth. Let’s connect to see if I’m the right fit to support your needs.
